Maury Mountain studied violin in high school and performed with the Wheeling Junior Symphony (1954/1955) as Principal Violinist. A lack of playing opportunities after high school resulted in his violin going into storage until 1998 when the West Chester Symphony was founded. Maury also plays fiddle by ear and performs with various traditional old-time string bands for contra-dances, art exhibits, gallery openings, and other community events.
Maury is a self-employed industrial designer, specializing in creating functional housewares products for the china and glass industries.
Ruth Perry learned to love classical music listening to her older sister practice Cello when she was very little. She started playing violin when she was seven, and took private lessons for a decade. Ruth has enjoyed playing in school orchestras, community orchestras and at church most of her life. In Jr. High she also played flute because they wouldn't let her in the marching band with a violin, and in college played alto recorder in an early music ensemble. Ms. Perry is a retired computer consultant and happily married to one of the percussionists in the WCSO. They have 5 kids and 6 grandkids, ages 3 to 20. Ask Ruth about her grandkids!!!
